We went out to the Yard House restaurant last night. One of the hubs co-workers is moving away & we wanted to hang out with them before they left. I couldn't wait to get there & eat! lol Here's the outfit I wore.
The J.Crew dress has been featured here and here. It was free so you no money out of my pocket. I paired it with my thrifted Liz Claiborne belt. The vest is one of 3. I got 3 of them for $15 at Walmart in '06. I'm so glad my sis talked me into getting all of the colors, lol. I bought those sandals for around $10 in D.C. in '07. The F21 bangle is making another debut on the blog....it's been on here several times.
I hope everyone has a great night! I'm currently starving as usual...off to feed the Munchkin.
So here's my outfit that I wore for Mardi Gras. We went to Galveston Island in Texas & the hubs and I had so much fun! I'd never celebrated Mardi Gras so it was definitely fun. I really underestimated my pregginess....I was soooo tired by the end of Saturday. I woke up Sunday morning still tired! Look at that preggie face...
I can't remember how much this dress cost but it was around $10 at Ross. I have no idea where that scarf came from...maybe from my mother? And ya'll will recognize the flats from here. Oh and that flower clip is from J.Crew. It was $10 as well.
That jean jacket is another favorite of mine. I only have 2 jean jackets, both from my sis and I love them because they're both so cute and unique. My sister has the best taste in clothes. :-) I will get a better shot of the detail of this jacket later on...Good night everyone! :-)-K.D.
My maternity photo shoot is coming up and I don't know what to wear! Well, usually I tend to gravitate towards dresses. That's what I initially wanted to wear (and still do), but I'm think about showing off my stomach a little too...maybe. I don't know. I saw this in Forever 21 and thought it would be perfect for the shoot....This print just spoke to me!
It's retailing for $27.80. I went to F21 last weekend and tried on 2 dresses. This wasn't one of them. I remember seeing it, but I didn't want to try it on. I tried on the other dresses because they were cheaper and the fabric was stretchier (word?). Unfortunately, I couldn't find those dresses on the site. : \ I loved the dresses I tried on, but I wasn't quite sure I wanted to get them. PREGGIE BRAIN. lol!
So I've got a dilemna because I do not want to take photos in 2 different outfits. I wanna get something to wear and stick w/ that for the entire shoot. I'll either get a dress or something that will show my stomach off like a one of those cute preggie crop tops. What to do? I think I'm gonna check out Ross for some of their dress deals. It's also time to raid my closet to see if I have something that can be used as a pretty top that shows my bare stomach. Gotta make a decision quick. It's 2:00am. Off to bed I go. Night ya'll. :-)-K.D.
I've been going back and forth on whether or not to discontinue ETSS. Truth is, I don't really have as many outfits to post as I did before. Also, I'm not working full-time so sometimes I'm at home all day wearing nothing that is post worthy, lol. And since I'm pregnant, I've been spending a boatload of time researching carseats, strollers, breastfeeding, etc. I haven't really been allotting myself any free to do some of the things I enjoy like blogging here. (Remember I still blog here and here too) So....I've decided to continue ETSS! As a matter of fact, I'm going to re-dedicate myself to it. I love to post my cheap outfits so I'm gonna continue to do just that. I will sprinkle in baby stuff with it of course. ;-) The main focus will still be on cheap, thrifty deals though. Ya'll are not getting rid of me that easily. :-)
So without further ado, here's some photos of me taken this weekend after the hubs and I came back from Frenchy's.
Everytime I wear this dress, I have to always pick up the bottom half! lol!
I love this dress! This is a 4 year old F21 dress I bought. I don't remember how much it was, but it's very comfortable! That's what I look for these days as the Munchkin grows inside of me. The weather was so pretty this past weekend that I had to wear it. We're supposed to be getting snow today and tommorrow, but hopefully we won't. *fingers crossed*
This is the outfit from the 1st holiday party! I actually bought this dress in Katy, TX which is about 15 minutes away from us in Houston. It was $18. I'd already bought a dress from Wet Seal, but I sent that sucker back when I saw this one. I love interesting backs!...that will get me every time. My sis gave me that Nine West purse for Christmas one year & you already recognize my Nine West peep toes. ;-) And look...it's my F21 feather necklace! I always get compliments when I wear it.
Merry Christmas ya'll!!!! :D Be back on Monday. I just painted my nails a festive red. :-) -K.D.
I was browsing on the internet today looking for maternity clothes-actually maternity dresses. I really want to wear a lot of long dresses. I couldn't really find a lot of dresses that I actually liked. I did find a few though.....
Hey ya'll!!!!! So if you've read my latest HairGurl post you know I've arrived in HOUSTON! :-) Been here for a week officially today. I apologize for the lack of posts, but with all the packing, moving, and driving i just could.not. Tired doesn't even describe how the hubs and I felt after the roadtrip was said and done. -_- We basically drove from VA to TX stopping in Charlotte, Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, and then finally Houston. It took a week. So you're going to see pics starting from a few weeks ago...and these are the first!
This was the dress I wore to our going away dinner we had in D.C. (If you're in the D.C. area please check out Founding Farmers! That restaurant was amazing!) Got it at Ross for $7. The shoes were a gift from my sis in '06. They hurt so I barely wear them...
How have you guys been??? Got any new thrifty outfits? I'm catching up on hairstyles and outfits from my favorite blogs. Let me know of any new ones I should check out! I'm officially back like I never left. ;-)
So the hubs and I went to a birthday party at the W's rooftop restaurant called POV. It was really nice....for the time we were there. They evacuated the entire building because a transformer caught on fire either by the hotel or under it.... I remember taking pics on the rooftop & then seeing smoke. It was crazy. People were coming out in their bathrobes from the shower. All we kept thinking was, "what about the food we ordered??". LOL, that's how hungry we were! The group ended up going to another restaurant nearby and we had a lot of fun.
This outfit is totally sponsored by Forever- the earrings, the dress, AND the shoes. The bracelet was $10 and it was from Bijoux Terner. For the life of me I can't remember how much the dress was...I think it was around $20. I bought it in December...The earrings were about $6. The shoes were around $25-30. I purchased the shoes & earrings with a gift card so free for me. ;-) I can't remember if I got the dress with the gift card too.....Anyway, that's the outfit. I would've worn this with my F21 belt had it not been stolen/lost in baggage claim.
The hubs just called my attention to this article on Yahoo. Drew Barrymore scored this cute little number for $25 at a thrift store.
According to the article, she paired it with $760 Yves Saint Laurent "Tribute" pumps. Drew looks very cute in her thrift store find! I love to see stars being thrifty. Just because you have more money, doesn't mean you have to spend more money. ;-) -K.D.
Well, I had a great weekend! Guess what ya'll? Remember my last post about me wanting a certain shirt? Well.....on Sunday the hubs surprised me by buying it for me! He read about how much I wanted it on the blog. :D Needless to say, I was sooooooo surprised. I wasn't expecting this at all. Especially since I just wrote about it on Friday. If you're reading this babe (which I know you are) thank you again! :D
The back of this shirt is SO ME. :D
As you can see he bought me the white & gray one. I wanted the yellow & gray one, but I love this one just because he actually went to F21 on a hunt for a shirt I wanted. :-) <3>
Dress-$3!, TJMaxx (oh yeah!) I remember getting it just because it was cheap...I knew I would eventually figure out how to wear it! I bought another one that same day for $2. Ya'll will see it soon. ;-)
Jacket- This goes with some pants I bought over 5 yrs ago...don't remember the price of the suit.
Belt-Thrift Store, $2.90 :-)
Earrings- F21, $3.80
Shoes- I promise I will start posting pics of my shoes more...sorry guys. :0 I wear the t-strap CR flats to work a lot. : \ I have to wear flats & right now they are the only ones that will suffice. I wish I could wear heels. : \
Random but who remembers this song??? I used to play this song on repeat in junior high! I listened to it this weekend and it brought back so many memories. :-)
Have a great night everyone. I'm off to enjoy a delicious cupcake. :-) -K.D.
You may remember this dress from this post. This is my 2nd time wearing it. I thought I'd try something different with it. This shirt & dress are just 2 of the reasons I started ETSS. They were among my first items I bought from the Village Economy Thrift Store. :D The shirt is making it's 1st appearance here on the blog. I just realized I haven't been to that thrift store in awhile. : \ I need to get back out there.....And also find some new ones.
Break, breakdown...steady breaking me on down. I used to love that song by. Mariah Carey & B.O.N.E. Thugs-N-Harmony....#imhavingamoment. Anyway, on to the prices....
Shirt-Thrift Store, $3.90
Dress-Thrift Store, $4.90
Belt- Bijoux Terner, $10
Necklace- ummmmmmm.....don't remember.....
And that's it. I really liked this look. The next time I wear it, I'm going to wear my hair wild. I would love the contrast of the hair & outfit. ;-)
Okay I've been watching these Wet Seal dresses forever...waiting for them to go on sale. And now they're $10 bucks, but now I'm not sure if I want them now.... : \
This was a pretty simple outfit. I really just put it together at the last minute because I wanted something comfortable. :o The brown skirt I have on doubles a dress too.
Shirt-I got this from F21 on sale for $10 I think about 1 & a half ago. Skirt- Don't remember where I got this or the price. I just remember it was in '06. It was a dress, but I cut off the added stuff and made it a skirt. I still can wear it as a tube dress though... Braided Belt- I don't remember anything about this belt! :0 Necklace- Same one from this post, Bijoux Terner, $10 Bracelet- a random beauty supply store, $1 Wooden earrings-Don't remember.....
And I wore my CR sandals! I would like to find some dark brown ones and black ones too. Okay I'm out....;-) K.D.
I promise I should be a Forever 21 spokesmodel. :0 As much as I promote them....what can I say? lol.....but for real...this dress is $6.99 & it comes in red, black, purple, & teal. It reminds me of a dress I bought from F21 back in November for a party....here it is. It was $10 I think. It's not satin though...
I love the pockets on it! :D Last night, I was telling my husband that I never was this into clothes & he said, "You always had it in you though." LOL I guess he was right...
