Too Rich for My Blood: Fashion in Magazines

I love reading magazines. (My heart belongs to books though) My faves are Essence and Cosmopolitan. Most times, I CAN NOT afford the clothes they feature in there though...lol. Just once I would love to open a magazine with $20 outfits ya know? Not outfits that average $200 & above...I feel like they're a little unrealistic when it comes to the majority of the clothes featured.

Here are just a few things that are way out of my budget.....all photos are from Cosmopolitan.

These heels are gorgeous! But not for $195.... : \
Even though the outfits are expensive, they do provide great inspiration. :-)

Wow, $10 Bathing Suits?!

Check out these Forever 21 bathing suits! They are $10 for the whole swim suit. Yep! This is the cheapest I've ever seen bathing suits. These are great if you just need a quick suit & it doesn't have to be fancy. Check them out here. I need some more bathing suits....I only have 3 I think. These bathing suits are making me want to go to the beach! lol...Seriously. Maybe a road trip to VA Beach is in the near future? ;-)

My Island Look

So these were taken on Friday. I bring to you the $6.90 dress I snagged at the thrift store! My hubby could not believe this was just $6.90. Ha! This is what I wore to the theater on Friday. One of our friends (she was the date for one our groomsmen) said I looked very "islandy". I felt like I should've been on a beach somewhere. Wishful thinking. :-)

I was getting compliments on this dress all day!

This is my favorite nail polish for the moment...

I love that feather necklace! Can you guess where I got all of my accessories from?

My regular raggedy Walmart flip flogs. : 0 I knew I would be walking a lot so I did not attempt to put on any heels. I saw a lady and the heels of her feet were RED. I felt so bad for her.... : \

That freakin purse was so heavy. I aim to clean it out this week.

By this time, I'd taken off my earrings. I was SO tired.

So here's the breakdown-

Earrings, bracelets, necklace- Forever 21, around $5-8 for each accessory

Purse
- BAGHAUS! Love that store.....I waited until this went on sale. Got it for about $30

Flip flops
- Walmart, $3

Dress
-Thrift store, $6.90! (I know I've already said it...)

And while I was in D.C. for the day, I found out one of the vintage shops I liked was closed. Like out of business closed. :-(
Well...when I shopped there I was usually the only one in there.....oh well.

Have a great Monday!

Starting April Off With Spring Colors

Yesterday, I went to the thrift store down the street from me...I try to control myself when I go in there, but it's so hard! I ended up buying a dress for $6.90 & it's so cute! It's another one that I want, but I'm going to wait a while on it (and just pray it's still there when I go back). And guess what? A teenager walked up to me in the thrift store and said "ooh you look so pretty today." Made my day. :-)

This outfit is actually a dress with a shirt over it. I'm blogging from Cosi's right now so I'll try to remember everything.....
Blue Button-Up Dress- bought from Dillard's 9 yrs ago...I can't remember how much it was very cheap because the store was an outlet.
Orange Shirt- Voice, can't remember how much it was & I forgot the name of the store. I would know it if I saw it again though.
(Fake)Pearls- Can't remember where I purchased these either...
Bracelets- from Forever 21 for about $6, and the bigger one is from a random beauty supply store for a $1
Belt- Same one from this post.
Shoes-purchased from Guccini Fashion & Shoes.

Email me if you want to know the names of anything. I don't have everything in front of me right now due to me not being at home....
Got a double date tonight with the hubs to go see Why Did I Get Married Too? Can't wait! :-)

My Sunglasses "Collection"

Here's my sunglasses collection... Nope I don't own a million shades. Just 2 pair. I'm thinking about getting some Ray Ban esque aviator shades to add to the collection. I remember when I was about 14yrs old, I started babysitting my little cousin in the summer time. She was a newborn & my aunt paid me $25 a week to watch her everyday. Of course, I thought I was rich! Ha! The innocence of a 14yr old. :-) The first thing(s) I remember buying were 3 pairs of sunglasses & a hat. I ended up breaking/losing the shades & ever since then I refuse to invest a lot into them....I like to keep a few of them for a long time. (i.e. years)

I only bought these because I broke my black $6 Walmart shades after 3 yrs. I really didn't want to have to replace them.... but I scored these at Ross for about $8. I believe I bought them last spring....

The brown ones are Liz Claiborne bought at Filene's Basement for $10 in the spring of '07. Very sturdy shades and I love them. I plan on keeping both pair until they fall apart. ;-)

And these are the ones I'm thinking about getting...

And I really like these too...

Just because they match my car. (lol)

(These 3 shades are all $5.80 at Forever 21)
How many shades do you own? I'm sure ya'll's collection puts mine to shame.
