Top Reasons Why I Prefer To Shop Alone

I, for one, don't shop in large groups of girls. They annoy me. Now....I'm just talking about shopping for clothes, purses, etc. Not grocery shopping or something like that, lol. I actually prefer to shop by myself. (Note: I do like shopping with my sister because we leave each other alone, that is until we have something cute to show the other :-). Here's my top reasons why I shop alone...


1. I'm more comfortable. I'm very relaxed alone...chill mode all the way. :-)

2. I only look at items within my budget. I'm NOT balling.

3. I think clearer. This may sound crazy, but it's true. I need a clear mind when I shop. Mentally, I'm scanning my closet thinking of what I need.

4. I don't have to go to stores I wouldn't normally shop in...I like going to Forever 21 not Coach. I'm NOT balling out of control as I said before & I'm not about to front. #imjustsaying

5. I don't like to be rushed. If I want to spend 2 hours in F21 so be it....

6. I'm selfish when it comes to shopping for myself. I don't want to have to consider/go in stores another woman may like. I just want to go in the stores that interest me & then go home. #thatisall

This is all I can think of for right now. I may have missed some.

I Want This VS Travel Set!

But unless it goes on a super sale or someone buys it for me, I won't be getting it. lol, The whole set retails for $148 here on their website. Isn't this the most stylish travel set??? Victoria's Secret really knows how to make me rethink this whole frugal thing. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!

And by the way....who's going to be looking at the The Hills & The City tonight? I know I can't wait! Granted The Hills is no longer the same without Lauren, but I still like it. I am kinda glad this is the last season though. It was Lauren's show, but now that Kristin is on here I don't know how much more I can stomach. Have ya'll see the commercial promo for The Hills? I love it, but I'm still trying figure who that is that gets cut down, lol. Oh well.... Why did the commericial just come on??? Random right? Okay I just figured it out...it's Kristin.

4 Items That Don't Go W/ My Personal Style

Although, I'm still getting used to this "style" blogging thing, I thought I'd let you guys know what you won't see a lot of on this blog.

1. Stockings. I can't stand stockings. I NEVER wear them. They irritate the crap out of my legs. I've never liked them. My mother would try to get me to wear them as a child, but I could barely last a few hours in them. When it gets warm, I really don't like anything touching my legs so pants really don't exist to me at this time of the year.

2. Socks. I know it's trendy to wear socks with sandals right now, but I won't be jumping on this bandwagon. I'm from the south & really prefer walking around with no socks while I'm in the house. Socks are okay, but I don't own a pair I've actually bought. I like the socks that go over each toe. :-) Those are the only kinds I own. And I hardly ever wear them. If I need thicker socks when it's cold, I wear the hubby's.

3. Pants/Jeans. I know I just wrote this in the "Stockings & Socks" category, but it needs to be said again. I'm a dress kind of girl. I love dresses. I've already done a post with jeans. Click here if you missed it. However, you may not see jeans again on ETSS for a lonnnnng time. When it gets steadily warm, I don't wear pants. I'm not kidding. I wear dresses, skirts & shorts. I would love to live somewhere that's so warm that I don't have to wear pants. lol, Seriously. You won't see many outfits of me in pants unless it's cold(er)out.

4. Sneakers. Lol, I only have 2 pair. (well I have some in my mother's garage back home) One pair I've had since I was 17. They're raggedy, but I love them. ;-) The hubs gave me a Foot Locker gift card for Christmas a couple of years ago. He was hoping I would throw away the old ones. Not! The sole will have to literally be falling off for me to throw those shoes away. Hahaha. Anyway, I bought some Jordans with the gift card. And I'm expecting to keep those for the next 10-20 years. I'm clearly not a sneakers girl. More like heels, flip-flops, sandals, etc...

That's it! I hope you guys now have a little more insight into my personal style. :-)

Miley Cyrus & Max Azria Romper

I forgot to tell you guys that I bought another romper last week....yes, in addition to the F21 romper. It's so cute to me & I never would have guessed that Walmart had any cute rompers, but they did. They are the Miley Cyrus & Max Azria rompers on sale for $10. Here are the different prints...

I settled on this one. It reminded me of an African print & the color looked great against my skin. :-)

I liked this one too, but I didn't buy it....maybe though.


Man, I seriously can't get enough of rompers. They are too cute!

An Afternoon at the Library :-)

I spent my Sunday afternoon in the library. I haven't been to the library in so long. : \ I love to read, but my life doesn't always allow me the time to sit back and read. I'm going to change that though. The library is one of my favorite places. I always get so lost in there. I blame my mother. ;-) She took us to the library almost every week when I was a child. Thank you Ma for instilling in me the importance of reading. :-) I'm going to pass that on to my children (when I have some). When my aunt moved back to Memphis, she took my brothers and I on Thursdays in the summer. We'd go to the grocery store & then go back to my aunt's house to have her official gourmet burgers. :-) Some of the best times of my life. On Sunday, I felt like I'd finally come home. :-)

This is what I had on...at first. I really felt like a school girl. That belt started bugging me so I took it off.

I love these earrings. They're different from the typical pair of feathered earrings.

When I got home I took my hair down. My hubby liked the look. :-)

Ya'll should've seen me about to break my back trying to get all of these books back to my car. lol It was so funny. The hubs is always picking on me when I go to the library because I always get way many books to read in the 3 week loaning period. Oh well. That's how I've always been! At my new library I can check out up to 250 books at a time! That sure is a long way from the "25" I could get as a child. ;-)

My Wedding Attire

My husband & I had a great weekend. :-) We went to a friend's wedding and had so much fun. I saw some of my old co-workers so it was kinda like a reunion. It was so good seeing them. If you read my other blog, The Leo Duo, then you already saw a sneak peek of what I wore. ;-)

I bought these shoes on New Year's Eve... I was looking for some cute shoes to wear out that night! I love the color of them.

Okay I LOVE the back of this dress. I'd seen peplum dresses, but the back of this one sold me. I wish I'd gotten another one in black though.

We'd gone to the grocery store after the wedding reception & we were both tired. Hence, we only picked up a few things. Oh and that's my wedding bracelet from this post.

My hubby took this photo & then I realized the next day that purse was turned the wrong way. Grrrrr.

So I took this one. Look at the lovely background of my Dell laptop box! :o My sister gave me this purse for Christmas. When I got it in the mail, the purse matched perfectly with my shoes. Go figure! She is the queen of hobo purses. ;-)
This was a relatively cheap outfit. I watched this dress for months on Wet Seal's website just waiting for it to go on a good sale. I knew I wanted to get a different color than black. (it's hard, but I'm trying to steer away from black clothes & get into color, lol) I have too much black. So hopefully, you'll see a lot of color on The Ex-Thrift Store Snob. ;-)

What Was In My Shecky's Bag?

Shecky's Outfit

So this is what I wore to the Shecky's Girls Night Out event. I was kinda frustrated because it took me sooooooo long to come up with something. I went with this at the last minute. I bought this dress from the thrift store down the street. Someone asked me the name & it's called Village Economy Thrift Store & it's in Woodbridge, VA. :-) The dress was a whopping.....$5.90

This is the only good shot I got of the dress head on....I was so tired. As you can clearly see.

Sequined belt. This was my first time wearing it.

Great back this dress had! I'll say it again. I LOVE an interesting, different back. :D

So here's the breakdown:

Dress- thrifted, $5.90

Purse- (Not pictured) from Wet Seal, $10

Earrings- which you can barely see, Forever 21, $3.80 for a 3 pack of earrings

Shecky's Girls Night Out!

I'm sitting here with the worst headache known to mankind. :-( No interesting outfits to post. Just wanted to let you guys know I'm going to the Shecky's Girls Night Out event tommorrow in D.C.! I can't wait because women say it's so much fun. :-) Red carpet, cocktails at the door, goodie bag packed with freebies, & discount shopping. Oh yeah! Now what to wear? Hmmmm......I'll think about it later when my head stops pounding.

I Finally Bought A Romper :-)

Remember this post where I talked about Forever 21's clothing under $10. Well, I stopped by F21 this weekend just looking for a romper on sale. I went to one of the managers first & asked her if they had any rompers. She said "no, they've all sold out." So I proceeded to leave....That's when I saw a striped coral & gray romper placed ramdomly in the wrong section.
Hmmmm. Thought they didn't have anymore? Grrrrrr...You would at least think that the manager would know what she's talking about right??? Anyway, I tracked down a whole section of rompers. I finally settled on the one i initially posted which was this one.....

I got it in blue though...it was on sale for $8. I really liked this one too... :-) I liked the laid-back look of it.

I'm hearing that Walmart has some rompers too...Hmmmm. So I'll be checking them out too. Now I want at least 2 or 3 more. lol

Pretty In Pink

So this weekend was very relaxing. I watched Pretty in Pink about 2-3 times. The movie had nothing do with my outfit though! :-) I just love Molly Ringwald movies. Sweet Sixteen is my fave. :D On Sunday, the hubby and I took a stroll in the park, got some delicious food from Ruby Tuesday, and watched Next Day Air. Well, actually it's just a trail, but I liked our walk. The actual trail is a bit creepy though...reminds me of walking through a forest The movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be....It had a lot of funny parts. The ending didn't go with the movie though. Can't stand a bad ending. It ruins the movie... : \

Everything that I'm wearing is old. My sister gave me that scarf a long time ago. I have worn it as a shirt too. Those are gold accents on the skirt by the way. The newest thing I have on are my gold flip flops. I got them last year from Kmart I believe...I don't remember how much they were. They're very comfortable though. Hope you guys had a great weekend. Too Rich for My Blood: Fashion in Magazines

I love reading magazines. (My heart belongs to books though) My faves are Essence and Cosmopolitan. Most times, I CAN NOT afford the clothes they feature in there though...lol. Just once I would love to open a magazine with $20 outfits ya know? Not outfits that average $200 & above...I feel like they're a little unrealistic when it comes to the majority of the clothes featured.

Even though the outfits are expensive, they do provide great inspiration. :-)

Check out these Forever 21 bathing suits! They are $10 for the whole swim suit. Yep! This is the cheapest I've ever seen bathing suits. These are great if you just need a quick suit & it doesn't have to be fancy. Check them out here. I need some more bathing suits....I only have 3 I think. These bathing suits are making me want to go to the beach! lol...Seriously. Maybe a road trip to VA Beach is in the near future? ;-)
